A History of Game Controllers Diagram

    History of Game Controllers

I’m currently making my way through Jesper Juul’s “A Casual Revolution: Reinventing Video Games and Their Players” and I came across this useful diagram.  It is missing a few entries, but overall its quite handy for reference (and nostalgia).

I’ve used most of those! Now I feel kind of old.

I forgot what the virtual boy controller looked like; I was fortunate enough to play one once. I don’t recall the super scope at all, other than its appearance in the Super Smash Bros. games.

I was pretty deprived as a child – I never had a games console until I bought myself an Xbox (Xbox 1 that is, not 360). Up until then I’d used computers (ZX Spectrum and PC) to play games. It was the Xbox 360 that really made me make the switchover from PC to console.

How did I manage to get through life without a Super Scope gun for SNES?????

They need to make another one for like COD or MOH.

The closest there has been recently is the Wiimote Gun adapter that came with out for the House of the Dead: Overkill game. The peripheral and the game were both rather good!
