So, this is my first music-related post on my blog, but it had to be done.  I’m a huge huge fan of Jimmy Eat World, and their new single, Big Casino, has been released on iTunes to the masses (at least to the masses in the US).  It is an absolutely awesome song, and brings with it huge anticipation for the album, “Chase This Light”, due October 16th.  You can check the song out at their myspace in the link above, or at www.chasethislight.net, and you can buy it on iTunes.

So Bioshock was released on Friday, and lucky for me, having preordered the collectors edition of the Xbox 360 version, it arrived in the post on Thursday morning. Other than having to spend a bit of time with my girlfriend, I’ve been playing it non-stop, and just an hour ago completed it on normal mode. All I can say is holy crap, this game is awesome!

I never thought it would live up to the hype, with 10 out of 10 reviews appearing left right and centre – but it completely did it for me. Its great to see an FPS with a good storyline that actually makes sense (as opposed to Gears of War’s typical alien invasion storyline and “hah, sucks to be them” dialogue). The game was completely immersive from the start, the graphics, the environment, the sound, the authentic soundtrack, the creepy and crazy folk of Rapture. All I want to do is play it all over again in hard mode now. Usually at this point I have an anti-climax from a game since the end is never what you hope for.

I can’t see anything beating this for game of the year for me. Bioshock rocks!

This weekend seen the famous HMS Bounty ship (otherwise known as the Black Pearl from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies) dock at Derry’s quay. I went over to take a few snaps while it was here. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t great.
